Note from the ACDIS Editor: Kick off the new year with a new CDI Journal!

CDI Strategies - Volume 20, Issue 1

by Jess Fluegel

A very happy New Year from the ACDIS team! Now that we’re done with celebrations and counting down the seconds until midnight, it’s time to reengage and kick off 2026 with only the best of what our publications have to offer. Since provider engagement remains one of the top three challenges mentioned by ACDIS members each year, we thought it high time to dedicate another edition of the CDI Journal to the topic!

Given the diverse backgrounds that make up provider groups, it makes sense that there is no “one-size-fits-all” for education and earning buy-in. As the CDI field expands to new settings and collaborates with other departments, learning different methods of engagement has become equally important as well. The ingenuity and variety of ways that CDI programs are engaging with providers and other departments have multiplied exponentially, which is why we’re pleased to offer this first 2026 edition of the CDI Journal focused on provider engagement and interdepartmental collaboration.

In this edition, readers will find articles about:

The ACDIS team hopes you enjoy this latest edition and find something helpful in its pages. As always, the CDI Journal is a benefit of ACDIS membership. To learn more about joining ACDIS, click here. ACDIS members can earn one CCDS/CCDS-O CEU for reading each edition of the Journal and taking the associated quiz. You can learn more on the full edition download page.

Our next edition will be all about clinical and coding topics! Contributing to the CDI Journal is a great opportunity for CDI professionals to share insight with the community, plus you can receive 0.5 CEUs per 350 published words (articles tend to be around the 750-1,500-word mark). If you have advice to share on a clinical topic, a common coding issue, or a similar topic, we’d love to receive your submission.

The deadline for the March/April edition is February 1, 2025! You can send your submissions via this form: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CDI-journal

We hope this edition helps you and your CDI program fill the gaps and heal the disconnect between different areas of healthcare! Please reach out to me if you have any questions or are interested in writing for our next Journal edition.
