Note from the Associate Editorial Director: Ways to earn your CEUs in 2026
by Linnea Archibald
It turns out that I love data. As a writer, that initially surprised me, but I’ve learned that writing for our publications without a firm grasp of the data surrounding what our members are interested in, struggling with, and focusing on, is an exercise in futility.
Because of this, I like to take a periodic stroll through our website search data to ensure what we’re covering editorially lines up with what you, our readers, are actually looking for. Of course, the heavy-hitter diagnoses—sepsis, malnutrition, respiratory failure, etc.—continue to land at the top of the list along with other common CDI concerns such as querying and productivity metrics. Ways to earn CEUs, however, also tend to be front-of-mind for our community.
So, in this week’s CDI Strategies, I want to take up a little space to highlight all the ways you can earn your CEUs this year.
First, let’s talk about the CEU opportunities members have annually (10 annually, 20 per two-year CCDS/CCDS-O recertification cycle):
- Quarterly Member Calls: Earn four ACDIS CEUs by listening to the quarterly calls and completing the brief evaluation within a year of the live call date.
- CDI Journal: Earn six ACDIS CEUs by reading each edition and completing the brief 10-question quiz within a year of each edition’s publication.
If you are a CCDS or CCDS-O holder, you know you have to earn and submit 30 CEUs per two-year recertification cycle, which means that as a member, you can earn two-thirds of that requirement just through your membership. Combine with a few of the free CEU opportunities below and you can meet your recertification needs with ease!
In addition to the 10 CEUs available annually to members only, ACDIS also offers a number of free CEU opportunities each year:
- ACDIS Podcast: Each episode of the Podcast offers 0.5 ACDIS CEU for listeners who complete a brief evaluation within the first four days following an episode’s publication (episodes launch every other Wednesday and the CEU period closes the following Sunday at 11 p.m. Eastern). Listeners can typically earn 13 CEUs through the show annually.
- Annual CDI Week webinar: Each year as part of the CDI Week festivities in September, ACDIS offers an hour and a half long webinar unpacking the findings from the annual Industry Survey. The webinar offers 1.5 ACDIS CEU and listeners can go back and claim that credit anytime within a year from the live webinar date.
- Free sponsored webinars: ACDIS’ vendor partners offer a variety of webinars throughout each year, typically each offering one CEU for live participants of the webinar. All the upcoming webinars are posted on the ACDIS site under the “Webinars” section in the “Free Resources” dropdown.
Of course, I would be remiss if I didn’t also point out that, in addition to the educational and networking opportunities it affords, the annual ACDIS conference offers attendees 13 CEUs for a variety of accrediting organizations. This year’s conference takes place April 20–23 in Chicago and we can’t wait to see many of you there!
I hope this review has answered some of your burning CEU questions, but you can always reach out to the team at info@acdis.org for more information.
