News: 2026 Healthgrades’ 50 Best Hospitals list released

With the start of the new year, Healthgrades has released their 2026 rankings, including the top 50, 100, and 250 hospitals in the United States. The top 50 are located in 19 states, with 46% of Americans living more than 25 miles from one of the top 250 hospitals, according to Healthgrades. Also, 14 states lack a hospital that performs in the top 5%, MedPage Today reported.

For their rankings, Healthgrades assessed more than 45 million Medicare claims from about 4,500 hospitals across the country for the most recent three-year period available. Hospitals were rated on outcomes across 31 condition and procedure groups including heart attack and total knee replacement. Hospitals can't opt in or out and they can't submit their own data, Healthgrades stated.
