ACDIS update: New physician advisor tip sheet on AMI available now!
October 2, 2025
CDI Strategies - Volume 19, Issue 39
Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is often listed as one of the most commonly denied diagnoses in the world of clinical documentation. Much of this derives from misattributing AMI symptoms to similar conditions such as chronic myocardial injury and acute myocardial injury, as well as a failure to distinguish between type 1 and type 2 AMI (among other things).
To provide clarity on the subject, the ACDIS Physician Advisor Committee has created a physician advisor tip sheet dedicated to AMI. In this tip sheet, you will find:
- A clinical definition of AMI
- How AMI differs from chronic and acute myocardial injury
- The difference between type 1 and type 2 AMI
- Diagnostic tips/tricks
- Clear examples
