Doing More With Less: AI and Staffing
As the industry has matured and proved its worth for healthcare organizations, CDI departments are increasingly asked to take on more responsibilities, often with the same staffing they’ve always had. Fortunately, in many cases, the advent of technological systems has helped CDI teams do more with their resources—ideally furthering their impact without overburdening staff. The Association of Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists’ (ACDIS) recent CDI Leadership Council survey, produced in partnership with SmarterDx, explored various facets of how the industry is tackling this challenge. Specifically, the survey polled respondents on CDI software use, division of CDI responsibilities, the impact of technology on CDI work, burnout on CDI teams, and current perceptions of staffing levels.
Several Council members were then asked to take a closer look at the survey data and discuss how CDI leaders and specialists can navigate the changing technological landscape and leverage tools to further their CDI team’s impact. In this industry report, readers get a full inside look at the ways leaders approach AI and staffing concerns.
