Note from the CDI Education Director: A grateful farewell

CDI Strategies - Volume 20, Issue 26

by Deanne Wilk, MPS, BSN, RN, CCDS, CCDS-O, CDIP, CCS

After an incredibly rewarding chapter with HCPro and ACDIS, I am stepping down from my role as CDI education director. This work has meant a great deal to me, and the CDI community has challenged, inspired, and enriched me every day.

ACDIS has always been a place where the mission feels real. The people, the resources, and the shared commitment to advancing our profession made it a privilege to contribute. I leave with tremendous gratitude for the opportunities, relationships, and experiences I have gained along the way.

To the members, educators, clinicians, coders, and leaders who dedicate themselves each day to improving documentation and advancing patient care, thank you. You are the reason this field continues to grow and make an impact. Accurate, complete, and integrity driven documentation is more than a compliance requirement. It tells the true story of patient care, supports quality outcomes, and ensures that the work being done for patients is fully recognized.

I am not stepping away from CDI. Far from it. I will continue working within this field and remain engaged in the conversations, challenges, innovations, and opportunities that lie ahead. My hope is that we continue raising the bar together, not only for reimbursement accuracy, but for the quality, integrity, and transparency of clinical documentation across the healthcare continuum.

It has been an honor to serve alongside so many talented, dedicated, and passionate professionals. Thank you for your support, collaboration, and friendship throughout this journey. I look forward to staying connected and seeing all that this remarkable community accomplishes in the years ahead.

Editor’s note: Wilk is the CDI director at ACDIS/HCPro. Please contact info@acdis.org if you have any questions.
